PUBLIC SAFETY DIVE INSTRUCTOR

The Emergency Response Diver Instructor course is designed to cross over current open water instructors with public safety diver experience, current open water instructors teaching independent public safety diver specialties and other public safety diver instructors. The program is divided into two (2) sections, An Instructor Development Course (IDC) and an Instructor Evaluation course (IEC).

** There is also a course called ERD Instructor Course – Non Open Water Instructor. This course is designed for those members wishing to teach ERDI courses solely, with no desire to teach recreational or technical SCUBA students. The certification would only allow them to teach in the field of ERDI courses. If interested in this course please contact info@hoodsportndive.com  for further information and costs.

Duration: Approximately 3 days (IDC Only) – IEC an additional day.

Prerequisites for this course are:

  • SDI Open Water Instructor or Equivalent.
  • ERDI Supervisor or Equivelant.
  • Be a minimum age of eighteen (18)
  • Pass a Medical exam administered by a physician
  • CPR1st Aid or equivalent.
  • CPROX or equivalent.
  • Ability to teach ERDI Full Face Mask & Drysuit specialties or ability to obtain certification.
  • 100 logged dives of which 75 are PSD dives either operational or training.

* As an example, the PADI Rescue Diver course would not be considered an equivalent but a PADI approved distinctive PSD specialty outline would be, subject to review.

The price includes: ERDI SOP Manual and ERDI Instructor registration.

Cost: $1800 – Additional cost for Instructor Evaluation Course (IEC) based on IEC Instructor rates.
